Philipp von Schoeller, a former national horse-riding champion and IOC member, has died after being ill for several years. He was 86. He was elected an IOC member for Austria in 1977 and became an honorary member in 2000 after reaching the mandatory retirement age. During his long term within the IOC, he had been a member of the several Commissions: Finance (1989-2000), Olympic Programme, “IOC 2000” (1999), Study and Evaluation for the Preparation of the Olympic Games (1984-1988), and Cultural (1981-1984). As a banker and an industrialist, Mr. von Schoeller served as a board member of various companies in Austria. He also chaired several industrial lobbying institutions in Vienna, London and Paris between 1971 and 1998.

The EOC expresses its deepest sympathy to Philipp von Schoeller’s family.
