Spanish NOC president Alejandro Blanco has been asked by IOC President Bach to travel to Lima, Peru, as IOC envoy to verify the current situation of the Andean Committee and that the agreements reached previously are being satisfactorily fulfilled.

Blanco already had several meetings in 2016 to ensure that the parties involved could reach a beneficial and reasonable agreement for all.

Following the floods that have devastated part of country, he will also examine the situation in general, given that as of next September 13 Lima will be hosting the IOC Session that will elect the 2024 Olympic Games host city.
Whilst in Peru, Blanco will also pay a site visit to the venues of the Pan American Games, to be held in there in 2019.
