The Chefs de Mission (CdM) Seminar for the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) Vuokatti 2022 successfully wrapped up yesterday following two productive days.

After the first day of the venue tour, the CdM from 47 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of Europe had the opportunity to listen from the organisers the work in progress with the preparations of the event, which will be held from 20 to 25 March 2022.

“We are very pleased that we finally managed to organise this seminar. We have received a lot of positive comments and hope that this visit to Vuokatti was useful for all participants,” said Marita Kaipainen, Secretary General of the EYOF Vuokatti 2022.

“This seminar gave us a lot of confidence that we have been doing right things and helped us to know what kind of information the NOCs still need. We can’t wait to warmly welcome all the athletes, officials and fans to Vuokatti next March!”

The Organisers provided the representatives from European NOCs with a progress report and plans for each functional area, while the competition managers presented helpful information about each of the sports.

Some 2,000 athletes and officials will descend on the Finnish city this Winter, with competitions in nine sports: ice hockey, figure skating, short track, cross country skiing, biathlon, snowboarding, alpine skiing, ski-jumping and Nordic combined.

Ski-jumping and Nordic-combined competitions will be held in Lahti, and girls’ ice hockey matches in Kajaani.

While the rest of the competitions will be all held in the Vuokatti sports centre, where the main athletes’ village and NOC services will also be located.

Today will also mark the end of the boys’ ice hockey tournament, which will see Finland and Russia contending the EYOF gold medal.
