CROATIA – MATESA ELECTED PRESIDENT OF NOC FOR FIFTH TERM

Zlatko Matesa has been re-elected President of the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) for 2016-2020. This will be his fifth term at the head of the umbrella sports organization in the Republic of Croatia.

His candidacy was supported by 33 national sports federations, Zlatko Matesa was the only candidate and got 121 votes out of 123..

Matesa presented to members of the Assembly his proposed measures for improving the status of sport in Croatia, Including the adoption of the National Programme of Sport and the completion of the Law on Sports.

Former alpine skier and four-time Olympic gold medallist Janica Kostelic, now assistant to the Ministry of Sport, attended the elective assembly.

Matesa, who is also a member of the EOC Executive Committee, is the third president of the NOC since its constitution, following Antun Vrdoljak (1991 to 2000) and Zdravko Hebel (2000 to 2002).
