CURTAIN CLOSES ON PATRAS 2019 MEDITERRANEAN BEACH GAMES

The 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games wrapped up with a spectacular Closing Ceremony in Patras, Greece on 31 August 2019.

The Games, which began on 25 August, saw over 7,000 athletes from 26 Mediterranean countries competing in 11 sports.

The host Greece topped the medals table with 46 medals (19 gold, 16 silver, 11 bronze), followed by Italy in 3nd place with 39 medals (15 gold, 13 silver, 11 bronze) and France in 3rd place with 32 medals (13 gold, 7 silver, 12 bronze).

“The 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games were a success and together we have written another beautiful page of the Mediterranean Games history,” President of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) Amar Addadi said.

President of the Organising Comitteee Nikos Papadimatos was also proud of the Games: “Patras 2019 were modern, exceptional and fascinating. We can say that Patras won the bet. Greece is back on the international sport scene and can dream even bigger!”
