In consideration of the current difficult circumstances stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the EOC has taken the decision to postpone the 41st EOC Seminar.

The Seminar was scheduled to take place in Šamorin, Slovakia on 15 and 16 May 2020. The event annually brings together representatives from the 50 NOCs of Europe, and this year would have focused on preparations for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

“Many countries are suffering a situation for which we cannot know the end, and our main concern must be the health of our athletes, staff and officials,” EOC President Janez Kocijančič and Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi said in a letter to the European NOCs. “It is thus our responsibility to avoid the movement and gathering of people in the coming months.”

In full agreement with the NOC of Slovakia, the EOC decided that the best solution was to postpone the event until it is safe to hold it.

Regarding the Piotr Nurowski Prize, the deadline for nominations remains extant but the awards will be made at a suitable occasion later on.

Any further developments will be notified in due time.
