The European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 saw the European Olympic Committees (EOC) and Atos successfully achieve their goal of improving fan and athlete engagement.
Atos are the official Digital Technology Partner for the 2023 and 2027 edition of the European Games and were responsible for safely capturing, processing and releasing data for all sport events.
A team of more than 400 Atos experts in Poland, supported by 25 in Madrid, delivered the technology, which included the ticketing platform, core Games management systems, venue services and the live results and schedules.
All these services were integrated in a data-driven digital platform, designed as a one-stop comprehensive solution tailored to cater for the diverse needs of athletes, spectators and volunteers.
In total, 40,000 sport fans registered to experience the event in a seamless way from mobile to desktop, with the mobile app version downloaded by nearly 12,000 users on Android and iOS.
The EOC and Atos also aimed at enhancing the experience of the nearly 7,000 athletes competing in Poland. A dedicated section allowed athletes, National Olympic Committees and member federations to easily share customised video clips of their performance on their social media networks.
More than 725 video highlights were produced and distributed daily by the Atos team and were viewed by an estimated 30 million viewers.
Other innovations allowed athletes to download from the mobile application their own NFT diplomas and medals, secured by Blockchain technology, or on-venue participants to enter a Virtual Reality experience of the European Games.
