EOC ExCo meets virtually ahead of November General Assembly

The Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) met virtually today for the 8th time this year to discuss matters related to the 49th EOC General Assembly scheduled for 27 November in Rome.

The ExCo discussed a number of issues, including the possibility of taking the GA fully online. A decision will be made in the coming days based on the latest COVID-19 statistics and situation.

The meeting was led by EOC Acting President Niels Nygaard and EOC Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi, who delivered a report on the activities of the EOC head office in Rome.

EOC Acting Treasurer Peter Mennel provided an update on the current EOC financial situation, while Coordination Commission Chair for Kraków-Małopolska Hasan Arat led a discussion on the numerous activities surrounding preparations for the 3rd edition of the European Games.
An updated report on the 3rd edition of the European Games will be presented at the forthcoming EOC General Assembly.

Progress updates were given on the next six editions of the European Youth Olympic Festival (Vuokatti 2021, Banská Bystrica 2022, Friuli Venezia Giulia 2023, Maribor 2023, Bakuriani 2025, Brno 2025). Director of the EOC EU Office Folker Hellmund noted that funds to support next year’s winter EYOF in Vuokatti, Finland had been secured from the European Union.

IOC Member and Hellenic Olympic Committee President Spyros Capralos thanked the EU Office for supporting a successful funding request for a project to be implemented in Greece in the coming months.

ExCo Member Djordje Visacki presented the concept behind the EOC Strategic Agenda 2030, which will be presented to the General Assembly next month.
