The European Olympic Committees and partners Atos are pleased to announce the launch of the European Games Kraków-Małopolska 2023 immersive virtual fan experience.
The game-changing virtual reality platform merges augmented reality and virtual reality, and will gives fans the chance to immerse themselves in the Games through their phones in a way never seen before.
Once in the augmented reality, fans will be able to view highlights, explore the venues, learn more about the sports on show in Poland and much more, including purchasing merchandise at the virtual shop.
They will also be able to chat to the other people in the Metaverse, which will allow fans from across the world to interact with the Games from now until the Closing Ceremony on 2 July.
EOC Coordination Commission Chair Hasan Arat thanked Atos for their work on the Metaverse, which is part of ensuring that the third edition of the European Games are the most innovative yet.
Mr Arat said: “The EOC and ATOS have done tremendous work ensuring that the immersive website is ready for the start of the European Games.
“This innovative initiative will give people the chance to experience the action in a new and exciting way, while also allowing them to speak to like-minded fans following the sport online. This is the future of digital engagement and the EOC will continue to look for innovative ways to increase engagement at our events.
“I know that thousands of people will enter the immersive website over the next two weeks and we already have seen athletes enjoy the virtual reality glasses at the athletes’ village.
“We must thank Atos for their hard work in ensuring that this is possible.”
