The European Olympic Committees (EOC) is deeply saddened at the news of the passing of José Manuel Constantino, President of the Portuguese National Olympic Committee (NOC).

Constantino, a dedicated servant of the Olympic Movement, passed away whilst in Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering commitment to sports and the Olympic ideals.

Having served as the President of the Portuguese NOC since 2013, Constantino played a pivotal role in the development and promotion of sports in Portugal. His leadership and vision were instrumental in strengthening the Olympic Movement within the country, fostering the growth of athletes, and ensuring their successful participation in international competitions.
