EOC OLYMPIC GAMES COMMISSION MEETS IN LAUSANNE

The EOC Olympic Games Commission, chaired by George Katulin from Belarus, met at the ANOC HQ on 23 March to discuss preparations for the upcoming Games, and also the challenges that the NOCs are facing with preparations for the growing number of Games.

The meeting was attending by members Martin Doktor (CZE), Sabine Krapf (GER), Bjorn Sigurd Sommerfeldt (NOR), Adam Krzesiński (POL), Victor Fonseca Da Mota, (POR), Victor Khotochkin, (RUS), Peter Reineb (SWE) and EOC Athletes representative sailor Alessandra Sensini (ITA), who were welcomed by ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg and IOC Head of NOC Games Services Toshio Tsurunaga, who gave an update on PyeongChang following the Chef de Mission meeting held there in February.

They also briefed the Commission on preparations for the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, and the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

The delegates had an open and constructive discussion with Lindberg and Tsurunaga about the growing pressures and costs suffered by NOCs due to the preparations needed for the many Games now on calendar. Lindberg and Tsurunaga both said that they would raise these concerns with the IOC.
