EOC Working Group meets in Brussels to discuss new General Assembly format

On 23 August 2022, an EOC Working Group (WG) met in Brussels, Belgium to discuss the EOC General Assembly (GA) format.

The scope of the WG and meeting was to analyse the current format of the GA, while finding new ways to revamp it and make it more attractive for the European National Olympic Committees (ENOCs).

Led by EOC Executive Committee (ExCo) Member Ms Uschi Schmitz, the group put on the table new ideas and suggestions that could make the event smoother and more efficient, for instance by sending reports in advance and delivering only short presentations during the GA in order to dedicate more time to topics like sustainability, gender equality, climate change.

In attendance were Ms Liney R Halldorsdottir, Mr Cedric Van Branteghem, Mr Gerd Kanter, Mr Jean Michel Saive, Mrs Anneke Van Zanen-Nieberg, Ms Rossana Ciuffetti.

The Members exchanged ideas aimed at identifying future topics of interest for the ENOCs and encouraging more interaction between them.

The outcomes of the discussions and the WG proposal will be presented to the EOC ExCo at its next meeting in Costa Navarino, Greece on 29 September 2022.
