European Games 2023 to be broadcast in 50 countries

The European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 will be available to broadcast in 50 countries across two continents between 21 June and 2 July.

The European Olympic Committees (EOC) signed an agreement with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in 2022 giving them the exclusive media rights to both the 2023 and 2027 European Games.

Spanish agency Mediapro will serve as the host broadcaster in Poland and their innovative coverage will bring the action to life as more than 7000 athletes competing in 26 sports.

Viewers will be able to watch these athletes create lifelong memories and fulfil their dreams, while the presence of 18 Olympic sports on the programme, including a number with direct qualification to next summer’s Olympic Games in Paris, adds to the excitement.

As well as being shown across Europe, the Games will be broadcast into homes in a number of South American countries and EOC Coordination Commission chair Hasan Arat emphasised the importance of the EOC’s agreement with the EBU in ensuring that the Games are accessible for all.

Arat said: “When the EOC signed the agreement with the European Broadcasting Union, it was to ensure that as many people as possible would be able to watch the European Games, see Europe’s best athletes in action and hopefully be inspired by the performances broadcast into their homes.

“‘We are Unity’ is the Games motto and having thousands of homes, from Romania in the east to Spain in the west, tuned into the same action is the perfect illustration of this in action. The enjoyment is not just limited to those lucky enough to be in Poland during the event.”
