Famous circus performers brothers Askold and Edgard Zapashnye entered the team of the 2nd European Games Star Ambassadors. They were awarded a certificate to mark their appointments to the role in a ceremony held at the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow, Russia on 25 July 2018.

Askold Zapashnye said after receiving the certificate: “This acknowledgement is a great responsibility and, of course, a great honour. My brother and I are very fond of Belarus and glad to come back there on tour. We will do our best to fulfil the task of Star Ambassadors of the 2nd European Games, which is a paramount event for Belarus. People who were in Russia during the World Cup could realise how concepts such as “Sport Unites” and “Sport outside politics” really work”.

MEGOC Deputy CEO Anatoly Kotov positively welcomed the fact that more people are joining the team of Star Ambassadors from the very beginning of the project.

“Zapashnye brothers, who are known worldwide as culture and art spokespersons, accepted our invitation and are willing to put every effort and all their enthusiasm to boost the event. With the support of their social media, they aim at involving the highest number of fans in Minsk next year”, Kotov stated.

Brothers Zapashnye are part of the fourth generation of the Zapashny circus dynasty, whose founders were performing in pre-revolutionary Russia. Nowadays, the brothers are known all over the world as the most experienced trainers of large predators. Their successes were recorded also in the Guinness World Records book.

The mission of Star Ambassadors, more of whom will be appointed later, is to spread the word about Europe’s premier multisport event, taking place from 21-30 June 2019 in the Belarusian capital. The number of Star Ambassadors will include prominent people from the world of sport, art and culture from Belarus and abroad.
