Brussels, 9 September EOC President Patrick Hickey, who is also the Chair of the EOC EU commission, greeted the newly appointed members in the Belgian capital for their first meeting.

EOC EU Commission Vice President Octavian Morariu (ROU) and members met at the EOC EU Offices run by Folker Hellmund from Germany.

The brief of the commission, the composition of which was renewed at the start of this year together with the other bodies of the EOC, is to follow the EUs activity in the field of sport, something that has become all the more important since the introduction of article 165 in the Lisbon Treaty, which recognises the specific value of sport within civil society.

The EOC EU commission will thus be examining themes related to its brief, including betting.
