The European Young Ambassadors Programme was officially launched yesterday, 27 February.
Under the auspices of the EOC Culture & Legacy Commission, the initiative aims at fostering the Olympic values among young athletes participating at EYOF, following the Recommendation 22 of the Olympic Agenda 2020.
This year’s programme will bring together 50 young people aged 18–25, who share the same passion, energy, motivation and will inspire young athletes to live under the Olympic values in and out of field.
Each of the 50 NOCs of Europe will select one European Young Ambassador (EYA), whose role is to introduce young athletes to the international sporting community and encourage them to discover the power of the Olympic Movement. EYAs will be properly trained through a dedicated electronic education platform to be ready for the educational programme, which will be carried out during the European Youth Olympic Festival 2019 in Baku from 21-27 July 2019.
At the EYOF time, EYAs will take part in group work sessions, daily tasks and briefings, as well as motivate athletes to take part in the Olympic Cultural and Education Programme (OCEP), a joint project by the NOC of Azerbaijan, the EYOF Baku 2019 Organising Committee, the Azerbaijan Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
