The countdown clock for the EYOF Vuokatti 2021 was officially unveiled at the Sotkamo central plaza in Vuokatti, Finland on 7 March 2020, marking 337 to go to the Opening Ceremony.

For the occasion, the organisers shared information about the EYOF, encouraging people to volunteer and be part of the community.

“This is a great test for us, for the people of Sotkamo and Kainuu region as well as for the whole Finland,” Mayor of Sotkamo Mika Kilpeläinen said. “We look forward to the EYOF and to experience the collective spirit that this event will bring.”

During the unveiling ceremony, participants had the chance to try out different sports, meet mascot Quukkei and participate in a series of quizzes, winning Vuokatti 2021 merchandising products.

Vuokatti 2021 is scheduled to take place from 6-13 February 2021. All 50 European National Olympic Committees (ENOCs) are expected to send athletes to compete in seven sports: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, short track and snowboarding. For the first time in EYOF history, a girls ice hockey competition will be organised, making this edition of the EYOF the most gender-balanced since its inception in 1993, with exactly the same number of male and female athletes competing in the same number of sports and events.
