London, 10th September with addresses from International Paralympic Committee president Sir Philip Craven and London 2012 chair Sir Seb Coe, the 14th Paralympic Games, hailed as the most successful yet, came to a close with a very colourful and emotional ceremony dubbed the Festival of Flame, the final act of which was the passing of the Paralympic flag to Rio de Janeiro’s mayor Eduardo Paes, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

And with 36 NOCs having won medals, Europe’s Paralympics athletes have collected quite booty at the Paralympic Games that have allowed the whole globe to rediscover a world made of will power, energy and joy of life.

On the strength of this great success, last 4th September the IPC launched the Agitos Foundation with the aim of becoming leaders in the development of sport for people with a disability, helping them to change their lives and so contribute to a society where the integration of the disabled becomes the norm. They aim to achieve this through the development of sport, research, and education, with the aim of achieving greater inclusion and increased awareness for the disabled.

And with this event also end the 7 years of work of the London Olympic and Paralympic organising committee that have produced such formidable Games.
