FOUR NEW IOC MEMBERS FOR EUROPE

Rome, 11th September the 125th IOC Session, which closed yesterday in Buenos Aires, has elected nine new IOC Members, four of which from Europe, who will now represent the Olympic Movement in their countries alongside their colleagues. But being newly elected they did not take part in the elections for the new IOC President.
The new European IOC Members are Octavian Morariu, President of the NOC of Romania and a member of the EOC Executive Committee, Alexander Zhukov, President of the Russian NOC, Camiel Eurlings, a Dutch politician, and Stefan Holm, a Swedish High Jump Olympic medallist, whilst the others elected are
Bernard Rajzman from Brazil, Mikaela Maria Antonia Cojuangco-Jaworski from the Philippines, Paul Kibii Tergat from Kenya, Lawrence Probst III from the USA, and Dagmawit Girmay Berhane from Ethiopia.
The Session, the IOC’s supreme body, thus now includes 112 members, including individuals, active athletes and representatives of International Federations (IFs) and National Olympic Committees (NOCs).
Kevan Gosper (Australia) and Lamine Diack ( Senegal), who have reached the age limit after having both served for ten years, will be stepping down as IOC Members at the end of 2013, and will become Honorary members.
