Le membre d’office du Comité exécutif des COE Andrzej Krasnicki a reçu l’Ordre olympique, la plus haute distinction du Comité international olympique, des mains du président Thomas Bach. Cette décoration, qui est décernée aux personnes ayant apporté une contribution exceptionnelle au mouvement olympique, lui a été remise à quelques semaines de l’Ordre du mérite des COE reçu à Istanbul à l’occasion de la 52e assemblée générale de l’association.

Le président du CIO a remis son prix à l’ancien président du Comité national olympique polonais lors de la session du CIO à Mumbai en saluant son impact sur le sport polonais au cours de son éminente carrière, Bach a évoqué l’organisation fort réussie des Jeux Européens de cette année à Cracovie et dans la région polonaise de Malopolska. Il a déclaré: “La forte réputation du sport polonais dans le monde est le résultat d’un long chemin de modernisation. La personne qui a porté cette modernisation vers de nouveaux sommets est Andrzej Krasnicki – un leader très respecté”. Très respecté par les athlètes, la communauté olympique polonaise mais aussi très respecté par le monde de la politique, des affaires et de la culture dans son pays, Krasnicki a su mettre ses bonnes relations au service du sport de son pays. «C’est sous sa direction – et grâce au respect dont il jouit au niveau européen – que les Jeux Européens ont été accordés à la Pologne.»  Krasnicki a été président du CNO polonais de 2010 à 2023, il a joué un rôle déterminant dans l’attribution et l’organisation des Jeux Européens.

Le président des COE Spyros Capralos à son tour l’a remercié pour sa contribution indéfectible à la famille olympique européenne en déclarant: «L’attribution de ces deux prix prestigieux à M. Krasnicki souligne l’impact incroyable qu’il a eu sur le mouvement olympique en Pologne et à l’étranger. Il a été une voix précieuse au sein de notre comité exécutif et grâce à ses efforts la troisième édition des Jeux Européens a été un énorme succès.»

Pendant la session du CIO à Mumbai l’’Ordre olympique a été également été décerné à Beatrice Allen (Gambie), à Craig Reedie (Grande-Bretagne) et à Chang Ung (Corée du Nord).

European Olympic Committees’ (EOC) Executive Committee Ex-Officio Member Andrzej Krasnicki has been awarded the Olympic Order, the highest award of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Order is awarded to individuals who have given distinguished contributions to the Olympic Movement and comes shortly after Mr Krasnicki was the recipient of the EOC Order of Merit at the 52nd EOC General Assembly in Istanbul.

IOC President Thomas Bach presented the former Polish National Olympic Committee (NOC) President with his award at the IOC Session in Mumbai and praised the impact he has had on Polish sport during a distinguished career, noting the successful hosting of the European Games in Krakow and the Malopolska region of Poland earlier this year.

President Bach said: “The strong standing of Polish sport in the world today is the result of a long journey of modernisation. The person who took this modernisation to new heights is Andrzej Krasnicki – a highly respected leader.

“Highly respected by the athletes, the Olympic community in Poland but also highly respected by the world of politics, business and culture in his country, he put all these great relationships at the service of sport in his country.

“It was under his leadership – and thanks to the respect that he also enjoyed at the European level – that the European Games were awarded to Poland.”

Mr Krasnicki was President of the Polish NOC between 2010 and 2023, played an instrumental role in their hosting of the European Games and EOC President Spyros Capralos thanked him for his continued contribution to the European Olympic family.

President Capralos said: “The awarding of these two prestigious awards to Mr Krasnicki highlight the incredible impact he has had on the Olympic Movement both in Poland and outside of the country. The third edition of the European Games were a huge success thanks to his efforts and he has been a valuable voice on our Executive Committee.”

Olympic Orders were also presented to Beatrice Allen (Gambia), Craig Reedie (Great Britain) and Chang Ung (North Korea) during the Session.
