FYROM – VASIL TUPURKOVSKI CONFIRMED HEAD OF NOC

The General Assembly of Olympic Committee of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has re-elected by acclamation outgoing president Prof Dr Vasil Tupurkovski for the period 2016-2020.

Proposed by the Triathlon Federation and 13 additional Olympic National Federations (14 out of total 27), at the Elective General Assembly held at the Hotel Alexander Palace on 9 December, Tupurkovski won against Atanas Nikolovski, proposed by the Canoe Federation.

After having accepted the two candidates, with at huge majority for the outgoing president, as proposed by the Chairman of the General Assembly, the members voted Mr Vasil Tupurkovski by acclamation.

After the end of the election, the second candidate, Atanas Nikolovski took the floor and, congratulating Tupurkovski, stated that it had been an honour for him to oppose the re-elected NOC President, who is a great man and truly the leader of the Olympic movement in the country.

The President, according to the NOC Statutes, proposed the 20 members of the NOC Executive Board.

Secretary General Sasho Popovski also reported that the NOC has two new member Federations: Climbing Sports and Sliding Sports (Ice Skating). The Macedonian Olympians Association also joined the NOC.

Skopje will host the 50 European NOCs for of the 38th EOC Seminar next 19-20 May 2017.
