GEORGIA – MEDIA SEMINAR

Tbilisi, April 6, 2016 – On April 1-3, the National Olympic Committee of Georgia organised, under the auspices of IOC Olympic Solidarity, an international media seminar in Borjomi, in the mountain range district in Southern Georgia well known for its mineral water springs.

The seminar was aimed at informing sports media attending Rio de Janeiro Olympics on topical issues, such as the organization of the Games, but also on better understanding the history of the Olympic movement, the history of the Olympic Games, the Olympic Charter and media regulations.

Among the speakers were: Emzar Zenaishvili – NOC Secretary General, Gachechiladze – “Lelo” newspaper Editor Emeritus, NOC establishment’s organizing committee, Jemal Dzagania – Ministry of Physical Education and Sports State University Rector, Lomouri – writer, author of the Encyclopaedia of the Olympic youth, Rusudan Aptsiauri – NOC International relations Department, Marika Kirvalidze – NOC Press Service, Vladimir Luka international category referee, Olympic referee.

The NOC president Leri Khabelov, accompanied by Olympic champion Shota Khabareli, opened the seminar. The workshop was organized within the framework of the chess and backgammon tournament, which included also an Olympic quiz, with Olympic champion Natsvlishvili, with five volumes of “Five spots” awarded to the winners.

On the closing day, participants received special certificates from National Olympic Committee Secretary General Emzar Zenaishvili.
