With only a few months left until Europe arrives in Gyor for the 14th Summer European Youth Olympic Festival, organisers are speeding up communication.

“We have been preparing with great dedication and enthusiasm for years now, and our aim is to host an unforgettable event, as our city is the first one to ever organise an Olympic multi-sport event in Hungary” writes NOC President and Mayor of Gyor Zsolt Borkai, introducing the first issue of the Gyor 2017 Newsletter, now available online at http://gyor2017.hu/en .

The March issue focuses on the host city Gyor, the City of Encounters with a rich cultural life. Among the topics covered is Hugoo Rooster, the Gyor 2017 Mascot, and good news on volunteer applications. There is also a large section that details competition venues and locations, and a preliminary schedule of Gyor 2017 events.

On the Gyor 2017 official website sports fans also have the opportunity to test their knowledge on the upcoming event with an EYOF GYOR QUIZ, discovering the city of Gyor, Hungary and the Olympic Games and Movement.

The Summer EYOF in Gyor will take place from 23 to 29 July next. Some 3600 athletes from all over Europe will compete in 10 sports on the programme: athletics, basketball, cycling, gymnastics, handball, judo, swimming, tennis, volleyball and canoe-kayak – for the second time on the sports programme, after the 2005 European Youth Olympic Festival in Lignano.
