Rio de Janeiro, April 13, 2016 – EOC President Patrick Hickey in his role as IOC Executive Member and Member of the IOC Coordination Commission for the Rio Olympic Games is in Rio with the IOC CoComm for their last inspection before the Games.
This is the 10th visit to Rio of the IOC CoCom. They have a very busy schedule.
Hickey together with two of his colleagues Willi Kaltschmitt (IOC Member from Guatemala) and Beatrice Allen (IOC Member from Gambia), visited the Deodoro Olympic Stadium which is directly opposite the Canoe Slalom venue.
The Deodoro Zone includes the following venues – Aquatic Centre , Basketball, BMX Centre, Canoe slalom, Equestrian, Hockey Stadium , Modern Pentathlon, Mountain Bike, Rugby, Shooting and Whitewater Stadium – where the relevant competitions will be organised.
With only 116 days to go until Games time the Commission has expressed confidence as the Municipality continues full steam ahead to make all the venues ready in time.
