One month ahead of the opening of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, the Olympic Committee of Israel (OCI) marked Olympic Day with an event attended by Olympic and Paralympic athletes alongside children and teenagers at the Meir Medical Center.
It is the second year running that the OCI has chosen to dedicate this day to the children of the Meir Sport and Health Center, where over the past two years Olympic athletes have been volunteering.
The Meir Medical Center has been the official medical partner of the OCI for more than two decades, and in addition to its work with top Israeli athletes, it is also a partner for several excellent educational initiatives, which inspire the next generation to engage with the Olympic Values.
The festival was opened by Ms Yael Arad, IOC Member and OCI President, together with Dr. Yaron Mushkat, the CEO of the Meir Medical Center, followed by an Opening Ceremony according to the Olympic protocol.
About 130 children who participated were exposed to a number of Olympic and Paralympic sports which included judo, archery, football, gymnastics, fencing, goalball and wheelchair basketball, with all sporting activities led by athletes.
