The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) is an annual celebration of the power of sport to drive social change, community development and to foster peace and understanding. Creating a historical link to the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, 6 April was declared the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 2013, and has been celebrated each year ever since 2014.

As a part of the celebrations, the Olympic Committee of Israel have chosen to host students from “Achva” School from Taibe, giving them a tour of the Olympic Experience in Tel Aviv, and a lecture from Loris Afarah, a Karate elite athlete from the Arab sector who lives in Akko, a coastal city at the northern extremity of Haifa Bay, as well as a lecture in Arabic about healthy lifestyle. The celebration is part of the Olympism and Sport programme run in almost 100 schools in the country, with the participation of around 10,000 students.
