LONDON 2012: VOLUNTEER INTERVIEWS SPEED AHEAD

London, 10 March – Interviews for the Games Maker Programme, which aims to recruit 70,000 volunteers for next years Olympic and Paralympic Games, continue with success.

The programme, which began at Londons ExCeL Centre last month, has now started its regional stage, having now begun at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA).

The WPNSA is one of eight regional centres where the interviews will be conducted until the middle of August. The others are in Salford, Belfast, Glasgow, Gateshead, Cardiff, Coventry and Plymouth. Interviews will take place in London until the end of March next year.

Organisers hope to interview an estimated 2,000 people between now and 20 March 2011, out of a total of around 100,000 candidates across the UK.

The interviews at WPNSA, which is the venue for next years Olympic and Paralympic Sailing competitions, will be conducted by 130 volunteers who have all been fully trained by LOCOG.
