London, 2nd August – The US Olympic Truce Foundation will present the annual award to International Olympic Committee (IOC) Italian member Mario Pescante and Honor President of the European Olympic Committees.

The award ceremony will take place next 7th August, during the Taekwondo Gala, at the Royal Air Force club in London.

Pescante, who decided to quit his position as IOC Vice President at the end of the London games, is being recognized for his work to promote peace through the sports movement and solidarity in developing countries.

He is also the IOC’s representative to the United Nations and was a crusader with former IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch for the recognition of the Olympic Truce in troubled times.

He has also worked to facilitate talks between Israel and Palestine for the free movement of athletes and officials as well as their inclusion in the Mediterranean Games.
