MESSAGE FROM THE EOC PRESIDENT – NOVEMBER

Categories: EOC

Dear colleagues,

Dear friends,

The European Olympic Committees’ busy 2023 has continued in November as we carry on working hard for the entire European Olympic Family.

It was an honour for me to attend the seventh European Athletes’ Forum and General Assembly in Rome the 6th and 7th November. This was a vital opportunity for members of European National Olympic Committees’ (NOC) Athletes’ Commissions (AC) to come together and discuss the important role that they play. I enjoyed meeting athletes from across the continent and listening to their opinions and ideas. I strongly believe it was a useful forum for all who attended.

Congratulations to Alistair Brownlee on his election as the new Chair of the EOC’s AC and to the four newly elected members who will join him on the Commission. Alistair will replace Gerd Kanter as Chair with his six-year term coming to an end and I once again want to thank Gerd for his immense service.

As well as our Athletes’ Commission, our Medical and European Youth Olympic Festival Commissions also held meetings during November. Both Commissions discussed their work in 2023 and looked ahead to 2024 and beyond. It is important that we build on a clean European Games in Poland and the success of both the winter and summer EYOFs this year.

As we enter the final month of the year, our thoughts remain with all those who still suffer as conflicts continue on our continent. We sincerely hope that a peaceful resolution to these conflicts can be found.

With best EurOlympic greetings,

Spyros Capralos
