The IOC indeed recognized the MOC as its 204th member at its General Assembly in Guatemala City on 7 July 2007.

“Our ten-year journey has not been easy. But with the support of the Government of Montenegro, the IOC, the EOC, Olympic Solidarity and our long-term partners and sponsors, we have managed to achieve everything we planned,” Simonoviċ said.

As for the future, President Simonoviċ stressed it was a really exciting time for the MOC, that in Reykjavik two years ago was entrusted with the organisation of the 2019 Games of the Small States of Europe, which will be held from 27 May to 1 June of the same year.

EOC Acting President Janez Kocijančič and Olympic Solidarity Director Pere Miró congratulated Montenegrin Sport warmly, as did IOC President Thomas Bach in a video message. President Simonoviċ then presented Kocijančič and Miró with souvenirs of the event.
