The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the Republic of Belarus has unveiled a new Olympic “Team BY” brand of the Belarusian team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Team BY is a brand created with the goal of uniting people from all over Belarus. Similar brands also exist in other countries, such as Team GB (Great Britain), Lteam (Lithuania), Team NL (Netherlands) and Team USA (USA).
A key element of the Team BY logo is the stork, one of the most recognisable symbols of Belarus. The blue tones of the logo refer to the phrase “blue-eyed Belarus” and represent an important component of the culture and traditions of the Belarusian people. Team BY will also have its own mascot.
“Team BY is a logo, slogan, new philosophy, marketing and PR project. We will work systematically from 2019-2020 to promote this brand,” said Vitalii Astrouski, the leading marketing expert at NOC Belarus. “At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games our team will perform in a new outfit and under a new name. We want to bring the Olympic team closer to the people, and every citizen of our country can buy souvenirs and clothing. Team BY is a folk brand based on our history, culture and traditions.”
