The Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOC) planted a tree to honour EOC President Janez Kocijančič in Pristina, Kosovo on 5 June 2020, which marked the World Environment Day.
“Janez was a great friend of Kosovo’s athletes,” said KOC President Besim Hasani. “On the same day of his public memorial service in Slovenia, we have planted a tree that will be dedicated to the great work Janez has done for our athletes.”
“He was a strong supporter of the KOC’s recognition by the IOC and the EOC, as well as the recognition of many national sports federations by the international ones.”
In attendance were also Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Vlora Dumoshi, KOC Secretary General Shasivar Haxhijaj, Rector of Pristina’s University Marjan Dema and representatives from the municipality.
A minute of silence was held in his memory by the participants who gathered around the tree that brings his name.
