Balint Vékássy is the new secretary general of the Hungarian Olympic Committee.
Appointed by NOC President Krisztian Kulcsar, his nomination was then ratified by the NOC Executive Board at a meeting last 10th August.
Bálint Vékássy, 43, was a junior kayaking and then adult champion between 1982 and 1996, with two wins at Junior World Champions. As a tournament organizer he has been the lead player in several major domestic events, and has been with the International Kayak Canoe Association for over a decade, as a competitor, consultant and photographer.
In a recent interview on Hungarian M1 TV channel, Bálint Vékássy emphasized that his mission is to implement Olympic ideals as a way of bringing people closer together.
