NOCS OF UKRAINE AND GEORGIA SIGN MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION

Kiev, 15 October 2014 – Sergey Bubka, Ukraine NOC President and his Georgian colleague Leri Khabelov three days ago signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between their National Olympic committees.

The agreement intends to consolidate their friendly and effective cooperation in various spheres including the ‘Sport for All’ programme, sport for special needs, sports medicine, anti-doping programmes and management of sport venues.

The parties also plan to involve the athletes, coaches and experts from both countries in training camps and sport competitions both in Georgia and Ukraine.

Sergey Bubka commented after the Memorandum was signed, “I’m happy that long-term cooperation with Georgia has now got formal acknowledgement. Georgia and Ukraine have enough in common to join efforts to push the Olympic movement forward. I’m sure that our effective cooperation, exchange of experience and knowledge between the NOCs will help to promote Olympic values within both our friendly nations’.

Bubka, who is also IOC EB member and IAAF Vice President, voiced his confidence that the next major sport event in Georgia the 13th summer EYOF will be a top level event. Bubka said, ‘Ukraine’s young athletes are looking forward to the event where they will participate. I have no doubt that the Tbilisi EYOF will be a great success’.
