Olympic flame atop world’s highest summit

On May 8, the Olympic Flame reached the peak of the world’s highest mountain. The scaling of 8,844.43 meter Mt. Qomolangma – as locals call Mt. Everest – was led by 45-year-old veteran alpinist and head coach Wang Yongfeng. The team was composed of 36 members, including three females, some students and five coaches. The Flame, which was carried in a the specially-designed torch, burned on the roof of the world during 6 minutes.
