Participants and spectators will be met by 50,000 volunteers, about 20 per cent of them are foreigners, coming from the USA, Great Britain , China, Russia and Argentina. There are also many countries who are sending just one representative, including Iceland, Tanzania, Gabon, Chad, Madagascar, Mali, Samoa, Somalia, Maldives and Oman.

They are coming to Brazil from all over the world to perform hundreds of operational roles, ranging from providing language support, staffing entry gates, bus stops, medical stations and accreditation check-in desks, to assisting with media queries and giving directions for visitors to Olympic venues.

Meanwhile the Olympic Torch is arriving in Angra dos Reis, entering from south the Rio de Janeiro state, for the last leap heading to Maracaña Stadium on August 5, when efforts, expectations and difficulties will transform into one unique reality: the first Olympic Games of South America.
