The moving Olympic Games Opening Ceremony opened two weeks of great competitions and unique moments for everyone – athletes and their entourage, sports leaders, spectators in Rio and around the world. A small team above all will never forget this experience: the IOC Refugee team.

After the very first gold medal of the Rio Olympics won by Ginny Thrasher (USA Shooting), the first Sunday in Rio brought memorable events for some teams, among others:
– first ever medal for Kosovo (participating for the first time in the Olympic Games) with a gold in judo for Majlinda Kelmendi
– the 200th gold medal for Italy, thanks to judoka Fabio Basile,
– the 19th gold medal for Michael Phelps, what a unique swimming career.
