“To be President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia represents above all a great honor and crowns my career in the sport, “said the newly elected president Bozidar Maljkovic who takes over from another great sportman, former NBA basket champion Vlade Divac.

In his coaching career, Maljkovic, 65, won four European club championship titles, with Jugoplastika, Limoges and Panathinaikos.

After his election on Tuesday, Maljkovic stated that this meant putting the cherry on top of his career. He promised to devote all his time to his new position and to create new sports centers in the interior of Serbia, outside of Belgrade, thanks to the cooperation of the Slovenian Olympic Committee with the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Serbia to work on the further development of infrastructure in the country.

He indicated his desire “to develop and create new medal winners” and noted that “success in sport is being built, not achieved overnight or with miracles.”

In an interview with reporters Bozidar Maljkovic said he will try to get a new house for the NOC,  and mentioned some ideas on the “Olympic heart” Fund that should take care of “former” Olympic athletes.  .

The NOC general assembly also elected the members of the Executive and Supervisory Board.

At the proposal of President Maljkovic, Secretary General George Višacki as in the previous two Olympic cycles, was confirmed in the position.
