Sixth edition of Run for Art announced by Italian National Olympic Committee and partners the Giulio Onesti Foundation

The Italian National Olympic Academy and partners the Giulio Onesti Foundation have announced the sixth edition of the Run for Art photography competition.

Open to young photographers between the ages of 18 and 35, this year’s theme will be the topic “Environment and Sports”, with the International Olympic Committee defining the environment as the third pillar of Olympism.

After the first two years were run on a national scale, the contest has been held on a global scale since the third edition and has showcased the work of photographers, both professional and amateur, from around the world.

The topic of Environment and Sport was chosen by the Run for Art committee because of the role sport can play in promoting the protection of natural environments and enhancing its resources.

The environment refers not only to the natural environment but also the social, urban, and cultural aspects related to sports. Symbolically representing the five Olympic rings, the five categories are sport and the natural environment, the social environment, the urban environment, the cultural environment and the future environment.

Photographs previously selected as finalists have been exhibited in internationally renowned locations, such as the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the MAXXI Museum in Rome and the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Registrations are open until 29 September 2023 and the judging process will see an internationally renowned panel, representing all the sectors involved, select eight finalist photographs for each of the five proposed categories.

In addition to being part of the physical exhibition, these photographs will also become part of the Run for Art online exhibition at runforart.com. Information on participation’s terms is available there and for further inquiries, please contact info@fondazionegiulioonesti.it
