Slovak Sports Community in support of Ukrainian people

Categories: Misc.

Slovak sports organisations and clubs have so far registered over 400 athletes from Ukraine who are training in the country after the outbreak of the war.

Being Slovakia a first contact country for Ukraine, hundreds of children have also been hosted in various schools.

“Sports clubs in Slovakia have opened their facilities to children and their parents, including athletes and coaches, who have been forced to flee Ukraine.

“In this way they we are helping them to adapt and forget the sad events that are taking place in their country. Representatives of sports clubs also help refugees from Ukraine with concrete aids, providing them with accommodation and food. A big thank you to all of them,” says Jozef Liba, Secretary General of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee.

Many young Ukraine’s athletes have already been given the opportunity to transfer to Slovak clubs not only to train, but also to participate in national and international competitions.
