A meeting of the CONPaaS Executive Committee was held on 24 February 2021 by videoconference. Supported by IOC Olympic Solidarity, CONPaaS is a digital services platform created by the Spanish NOC and designed for NOCs.

The 22 NOC members of CONPaaS attended the meeting, 17 of them were NOC Presidents. Also in attendance were IOC Members Luis Mejía and Filomena Fortes, IOC Deputy Director General Pere Miró, IOC Director of Olympic Solidarity and NOC Relations James Macleod, IOC Head of NOC Information Services Joelle Simond, IOC Director of NOC Relations Ignacio Marqueta.

President of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) Alejandro Blanco opened the videoconference and together with COE Secretary General Victoria Cabezas and COE Director of new technologies department Manuel Pastrana presented the advances of the platform. They announced that, from that moment, each Olympic Committee can publish its website when it deems appropriate. In fact, Spain was the first to do so. Its new website is available now and Portugal announced that they would do on the 1st March.

Alejandro Blanco said that “CONPaaS is going to change the communication and digitization of the Olympic Committees. It is an honour for me to see that all the CONPaaS Olympic Committees are present, the 22 Olympic Committees. And it is an enormous satisfaction for me because this is the result of our joint effort. This is the model that we must follow in a global way, which unifies work, information and communication with the same system. It is a real dream”.

Pere Miró also addressed the members: “I want to thank you for always being there, supporting the Olympic Movement. In these difficult times, we need to be more united than ever and give an illusion to the world. And I think that the Olympics and the sport can give hope to this world. This magnificent idea was born in the Spanish NOC and we are refining and polishing. We already see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

The director of Olympic Solidarity and relations with the IOC NOCs, James Macleod, thanked the COE and its president and added that “it has been a pleasure to see all the CONPaaS Olympic Committees gathered here in full. For us, this project is very interesting, and I am sure that it will be a great advance to achieve greater digitization.”

Before concluding the meeting, Alejandro Blanco referred to the CONPaaS Strategic Plan for the coming years, the link of this project with the 2020 + 5 Agenda of the International Olympic Committee, as well as the sustainable strategy developed by the Spanish Olympic Committee.

22 countries are currently part of the project: Andorra, Argentina, Brazil, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Equatorial Guinea, Honduras, Mexico, Mozambique, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
