Tbilisi, 27th September – the EYOF Coordination Commission paid an extra visit to Tbilisi during the last week of September, with CoCom Chair Jozef Liba and the EYOF Manager Katerina Nycova visiting the Georgian capital, the host of the 2015 Summer EYOF from 22nd to 26th September 2015, where they met the new Chair of the Organising Committee, Mr. Aleksandre Akhvlediani ,and newly appointed managers of some departments of the OC. They discussed the final setup of the OC, the current situation regarding infrastructure and the operation of the Sports Department.
The CoCom visited the Athletes´ village in Tbilisi, by the sea, and witnessed again the significant progress in construction work. They also met the Mayor of Tbilisi and Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth, and were repeatedly assured by both that there was full support from the City and the Ministry.
Although there’s still an immense amount to do for the Organising Committee, Tbilisi has great potential to host a highly successful EYOF in two years from now. The participants at the Festival will experience in person the motto of the Georgian capital “Tbilisi the City that loves you”. The famous Georgian hospitality and great cuisine will certainly crown the effort of our Georgian friends to host this important sports event at the highest level.
The Tbilisi 2015 OC will give their presentation on progress with the preparations for the EYOF at the EOC General Assembly in Rome. The written progress report will be sent to all NOCs one month prior to the General Assembly.
