THE COURT OF ARBITRATION FOR SPORT HAS OPENED TWO TEMPORARY OFFICES IN RIO

Categories: Misc.

Lausanne, 28 July 2016

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has opened two temporary divisions on the site of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. They will operate every day until they close on Sunday 21 August.

For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, the CAS will be in charge of doping-related matters arising on the occasion of the Games as a first-instance authority. This new structure will handle potential doping cases referred to it in accordance with the IOC Anti-doping Rules.

The CAS Anti-doping Division will adjudicate on these cases after hearing the parties concerned. It may also impose provisional suspensions pending the conclusion of the procedure. Final decisions rendered by the CAS Anti-doping Division may be appealed before the CAS ad hoc Division in Rio or before the CAS in Lausanne after the end of the Olympic Games.

The CAS offices are located at the Windsor Oceanico Hotel, in the Barra da Tijuca district, heart of the Olympic Games.

The procedural rules for the CAS Anti-doping Division are available on the CAS website: www.tas-cas.org .
