Fenerbahçe Sports Club has been awarded the Fair Play Honour Flag for 2021. The award, which was initiated by the Turkish Olympic Committee’s (TOC) Fair Play Commission, aims to reward sports clubs that embrace Olympic sports disciplines and promote the values of Fair Play.

On 4 April, at the TOC headquarters in Istanbul, TOC Fair Play Commission Chair Erdoğan Arıpınar, Executive Vice President Prof. Dr. Bilge Donuk, Vice Presidents Remzi Yılmaz, and Dr. Sevim Güllü announced Fenerbahçe as the inaugural and 2021 winner of the Fair Play Honour Flag.

After examining the records of the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports and evaluating nearly 1,500 sports clubs across the country, 17 clubs were selected as candidates for the competition. Following an assessment by the TOC Fair Play Commission Jury, who evaluated the activities of all candidates for 2021, Fenerbahçe Sports Club was awarded the right to raise the Fair Play Honour Flag for the next two years.

Following the announcement, TOC Fair Play Commission Chair Erdoğan Arıpınar said: “Although football is more prominent in our country, we have many athletes who successfully represent our country in many Olympic sports disciplines. We wanted to reward the clubs that support the development of these young athletes with their resources, and who increase the visibility of Olympic branches in the Turkish sport. We congratulate Fenerbahçe Sports Club and wish them continued success.”

The Fair Play Honour Flag was raised on Thursday 21 April at 14:00 local time at Fenerbahçe Dereağzı Facilities.
