The Türkiye Olympic Committee (TOC) Athletes’ Commission provided training programmes to more than 100 athletes focused on career transition and on effective use of social media.
Following the meeting of the AC on 12 February, the TOC ran the online training sessions in conjunction with Deloitte Türkiye and TikTok Türkiye. The first programme was called “Career Transition for Athletes: Roadmap for Active Sports Careers and Beyond” and the second the “Effective Use of Social Media”.
TOC Secretary General Nese Gundogan said: “We are delighted to have conducted the training series last year with the support of IOC Athlete365, and this year, we are pleased to conduct it with Deloitte and TikTok, global partners of the IOC.
“Within the scope of our athlete-focused work and activities at TOC, the training and support we will provide in the career field will continue to grow with different content and methods in line with the needs of our athletes in the upcoming period.”
TOC AC Chair and Turkish women’s national volleyball team captain Eda Erdem highlighted the commission’s commitment to directly impacting these areas, with career transition one of the most significant challenges faced by Turkish athletes.
She said: “We are focused on areas such as athlete career transitions and individual athlete development, where we believe we can create a direct impact.”
The TOC runs a number of initiatives in this regard, providing English language course support to 65 athletes in collaboration with the Wall Street Institute, while running programmes in partnership with the International Olympic Committee’s Athlete365 to help guide athletes through social media.
