The winning photo of the contest “Athletes in Action” is a picture posted on the Lithuanian Olympic Committee Instagram page @lteam_official.

The name of the photographer is Kipras Štreimikis, while the athlete in the picture is Paulius Semaška, a member of the Lithuanian 3×3 basketball team.

The shot portrays the moment right after the 3×3 basketball match, where Lithuania beat Belarus, securing their entry into quarter finals. After their victory, Semeška released his great energy and adrenaline with a loud shout.

The best picture was selected out of 219 Instagram posts by the EOC Athletes’ Commission together with the EOC Communications Team. The criteria for judging was a combination of composition, storytelling, emotional appeal, clarity and quality, and audience appeal.

The contest was open to all athletes, officials, participants of the 2^nd Minsk European Games. To see all pictures you just need to search the hashtag #AthletesInMinsk on your Instagram.

After a degree in Economics, Štreimikis switched his career to photography and other visual arts. He has been working with Lithuanian NOC for three years now and collaborated also with national and international organisations and companies.

He will receive as a prize a selection of European Games gifts, including customised clothes, gadgets and luggage items, from the European Olympic Committees.
